Women and Children first.....NOT!

Although many slogans, campaigns and signs saying this words, "Women and Children First", the practice is quite the opposite. It turns to be just an accesory or decoration, or just a common tagline that no needs to be considered and put attention to.

This morning, on the bus, I noticed that most of the men, guys or whatever were sitting down, let alone they were young men, while I saw the women were standing. No one...actually no men were so kind letting their seats to the women, not including to me.
I got the chance to sit down when a man met his stop. The man next to him asked me to sit next to the window, while the fact was he only moved a little that it was hard for me to get through the seat. I almost wanted to yell at him, "Gee, could just get up for a while....A WHILE, so I can get through??" Pheeww...thank God I didn't. I just could not stop thinking why the guy sitting next to me is that lazy. You're young and I believe strong, man (not to mention a bit cute, but I guess I already turned off ^_^)...but you're too lazy to get up and let the lady sits!

On the Trans Jakarta, there are an actual sign saying to give the seat first to women and children, and also a sign of no food and drink are allowed, unfortunately the attendant (or guard?) only warns the passenger eating or drinking, but not the passenger giving no seats to women or children or senior citizens. Bummer... :(

Idul Fitri 1427 H

Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar walillah ilham...

One more day to winning.
A day of celebration after 30 days of fasting.
A day when forgiveness is made and given to each other.
A day when you share some of your earnings with the poor.
A day of paying respect to the elders.
A day of visiting and meeting your big family, even family you might have not met before.
A day when you meet your own neighbors, the closest persons you probably cannot meet every day because each one is busy.
A day of sending and receiving numbers of wishes via sms to and from your friends or from unknown numbers.
A day when you can eat tons of ketupat, from one house to another, till you get full.
A day when your mom's favorite china plates and crystal glasses are used for the festive meal.
A day when you should do your own household work because the helpers are going home.
A day when your house seems more shiny in the morning and looks like a wreck in the evening.
A day when you give angpaw to your nephews and nieces.
A day of wearing new clothes you bought especially for this occasion.
And....last but not least,...
A day when you should put aside hatred and bring love to the world.

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1427 H
Mohon maaf lahir dan Batin.

My Friend

Friendship, like the immortality of the soul, is to good to be believed. The end of friendship is...for aid and comfort through all the relations and passages of life and death....

- Ralph Waldo Emerson -

Do true friendship really exist today????

Busway, buzz off....

I've been stressing out lately, not because of my works nor my personal problems, but because of the busway construction along my way from home to the office and vice versa. Don't get me wrong, I do like the fact that there'd be a busway from my home to the office, it's just that due to the construction, it takes an hour and half to go to the office and home. Normally, it would take only 40 minutes to go to the office by car, and take 30 minutes to go home by small bus.

There was even one time, when the traffic was so bad because of the construction, that I had to spent 2 hours on the way home. Doh! Actually the construction is not only of the busway, but also monorails, although only along in the street where my office is, so I guess you could imagine how stressful it is. Aarrghh....

However, I appreciate the government of Jakarta for their plan to create more MRTs in the city. Within the next few years, the residents of Jakarta would probably less use their cars that they choose the public transportation. As a result, less traffic. That's the plan. But.....what if there's a flood (who happens often here)??????

more things to do and think about, gov......:D

Big Make Over

hi, it's been a while - well a long time actually - since i'm writing this blog of mine. I've been occupied with some projects at the office that I could barely open the internet and.....well ok, stop...that's not it, I just didn't know what to write :D.......

Anyway, inspired by a friend of mine who has been living a healthy life since a couple of months ago, I decided to do the same. I saw her now as a new fresh and healthy woman with great body, while she used to smoke and nibble snacks quite a lot and hate sport.

I'm not one of those skinny and tall women, I even look chubby, yet I'm comfort with the way I look. It is just I don't look fresh and gets tired easily and often gets stomache due to my liking eating what people consider as unhealthy food. Besides, people whom I love suggested me to lose some weight for I would look younger. NOT a bad advice at all, in fact a great idea that I need to make a big chance....big make over.

I've been starting this diet program since two weeks ago and working out quite regularly. I choose healthy vegetable soup as my meal and fruits, such as papaya *big help for people having bad digestion*, apple, strawberry or even tomato, as my snacks. I avoid junk food and afternoon snacks that often provided at my office. Also, I avoid rice as my main meal, as from what I read, it contains a great deal of glucose, which makes our weight grows rapidly *is it just a myth or...?* and I try to drink more mineral water, avoid pop.
However, it is not always a grueling process. I give some slack to myself that I eat yummy food during the weekend, ON CONDITION that no junk food!

For women who wish for a make over, do not forget to have skin treatment or hairspa. You don't need to go to those big budgeted treatment centre, you could do it just at home. As for me, I do simple facial once a week and put peeling mask after cleaning my face, and also do some luluran (body scrubs) with the scrub that you could buy at any supermarket. Don't forget to smear olive oil over your body. It is good to keep you from dry skin.

As a result, I've lost 2 kilos of my weight and I haven't got stomache (hopefully not ever!) ever since, as well as I don't get tired easily now and sleep well. My face looks a bit fresher and my skin is smoother now. Nonetheless, I'm far from a really healthy life, but I'm still taking the road and still many homeworks to be done. The thought and efforts that count.

A Letter from Nadya

This morning my 5-year old niece, Nadya (Yaya) came to me and handed me this piece of letter that she wanted me to read and then asked her mom to send it by mail. It says...

Sinterklaas,
Yaya sebentar lagi mau ulang tahun
Yaya pingin kado yang bagus
Yaya pingin sepeda baru
Yaya pingin merayan *probably means "merayakan"* di rumah
sama titi *wow, my name came first!*, mama, papa, om anto, oma, mba wati
terima kasih

Nadya Sofiani

When I finished reading it, she remembers that she forgot to the names of his brother and our other maid, then she grabbed the letter and wrote...

Sinterklaas
tambah nama baru
haykel
om agus
mba tari

I really wanted to laugh seeing her with her pure children thought. And she is really serious about sending the letter! she even put it in an envelope with kepada sinterklaas on it. The funny thing is she didn't allowed her mom, dad n her brother to read it. I don't know why...
Well, I just hope sinterklaas will have the time to stop by...
